About me and this blog

Hi, I am Sandhya. Welcome to the World of Recipes, my little space on the web.

About me:

I am a Keralite by birth and now living with my husband in Delhi. So, my cooking is a fusion of South Indian and North Indian food.

It is now more than 10 years of my marriage and looking back I feel I was a big zero as far as cooking is concerned. I did not know the ABCD of cooking . I am a Commerce graduate and was working before marriage. I didn’t have the time enough to learn cooking even though my mom tried a lot to teach me. My husband’s family is also placed in Kerala. I knew I will not get any help related to cooking from my mom and mom-in-law(needless to mention, both are expert cooks)  as I will be far away from them and there was no mobile or laptop usage at that time.

I decided to bring with me a recipe-reference book in which I wrote all the recipes of food prepared  at my home. Everyday, I would experiment one from them. Some turned out really horrible. Thanks to my hus who tolerated everything and encouraged me for further trials. I got a job in a Garment Export Factory and at that time me and my hus used to dine out     for North Indian food at Nirulas, a very famous food joint. Then, I shifted to a BPO  job where I got to learn some North Indian recipes from my colleagues. I quit the job after 3yrs when my hus got a transfer to our hometown. We stayed at his place where I got the guidance from my mom-in-law. I learned a lot many things from her.

Today, after coming back to Delhi, I do not claim myself to be an expert in cooking. I am still in the process of learning new things. Of Course, my hus is happy that he could invite his friends without doubt to a lunch or dinner and I would prepare a decent meal for them.

About the recipes

Some of the recipes are traditional ones inherited from mom and mom-in-law. Some are adapted from TV shows and cookery books. Of Course, I have made my own variations to suit my needs. Even though majority of the recipes are Kerala food items, I am open to all kinds of cooking. The recipes posted are tested in my kitchen and you can expect more postings in future also.
This site is an attempt to help the beginners in cooking and so your comments and feedback is very important to me. Please feel free to send any suggestions to sandhyavinumenon@gmail.com.

Enjoy cooking!
