Soya chunks curry





Soya Chunks Curry

Soya is  said to be the vegetarian’s meat. Soya chunks curry is a high protein curry which can be had both with rice and roti.

Basic info about the recipe:

Cuisine                         - North Indian
Serves                          - 2 people.

Ingredients:
1.   Soya chunks                              - 2 cups
2.   Onion                                          - 1 large
3.   Ginger- garlic paste                   - 1 tsp
4.   Tomato                                        - 2 medium.
5.   Cumin Seeds                             - ½ tsp
6.   Oil                                               - 2 tsp
7.   Turmeric Powder                       - ½ tsp
8.   Red chilli powder                       - 1 tsp
9.   Coriander Powder                      - 1 tsp
10.       Chicken masala                    - 1 tsp
11.       Vegetable masala                 - 1 tsp
12.       Salt                                         - to taste
13.       Kasoori Methi                        - 1 tsp
14.       Fennel Powder                      - 1 tsp

Method:  Grind the tomatoes and keep aside.

Dip the soya chunks in hot water  for 10 mts. Take out from water, squeeze it thoroughly and keep aside.

Heat a pressure cooker and add oil. Add cumin seeds. When it splutters, add ginger-garlic paste and onions and fry till golden brown. Add tomato paste and fry.

Add all the powders and masala (except kasoori methi). Fry till the masalas are cooked well.

Add the soya chunks and salt and mix well.

Finally, add kasoori methi and sufficient water and close the cooker.

Wait for 2 whistles.  Soya  chunks curry is ready to be served.
