Tomato chutney



Tomato chutney

 Chutneys are great accompaniment with almost all breakfast items and snacks. Different varieties of chutneys can be made. Tomato chutney goes well with idli, dosa and uthapam.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                             - South Indian
Serves                              - 2 people.


Ingredients:
                  1.Tomato                                           - 2 large
                  2. Shallots                                         - 5 ns
                  3. Ginger                                           - 1 inch piece
                  4. Dry red chillies                              - 2
                  5. Oil                                                  - 4 tsp
                  6. Curry leaves                                 - 5-6
                  7. Coriander Leaves                        - a small bunch
                  8. Coconut grated/ dessicated        - 2 tsp
                  9. Asofoetida(hing)                           - a pinch
                  10. Salt                                              - to taste
                 

Method: Fry shallots, tomato, ginger, red chillies in oil.

              Grind them with salt, coconut and some coriander leaves.

              Transfer to a bowl.
             
              Keep a pan and add oil. Fry curry leaves, coriander leaves and hing. Tomato chutney is ready to be served.              


Note: Mustard seeds can also be added while tempering.
