Carrot Halwa

Gajar Halwa

Carrot Halwa

Halwas are famous across India. Gajar ka halwa is no exception. In North India it is prepared in winters when the carrots are available in plenty in the markets.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                                             - North and south India
Serves                                             - 6-8 people

Ingredients:
1.   Carrots                       - 1.5 kg
2.   Milkmaid                     - 1 tin
3.   Ghee                          - 2 tbsp
4.   Dry fruits(assorted)   - ½-1 cup

Method: Grate the carrots.

Transfer to a non-stick pan. Keep in low flame. Let it cook in its own juice for 2-3 mts.

Add condensed milk and cook well. Add ghee in between to prevent the carrot halwa from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Cook till the liquid evaporates and the halwa is dry.

Add cashew nuts, almonds and raisins and mix well.

Serve hot or cold.

Note:  Dry fruits can be fried in ghee if  so desired.

Milkmaid already contains sugar. For more sweetness, additional sugar can be added.
