Sweet kozhukattai

It is a traditional tea- time snack of Kerala. Kozhukatta is a main offering in Ganesh Temples. The stuffing that is prepared differs from one region to the other.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                                   - South Indian
Serves                                    - 3-4 people

Ingredients:
1.   Roasted rice flour                         - 1cup
2.   Coconut grated                             - 1 cup
3.   Jaggery(melted)                            - ½ cup
4.   Ghee                                              - 1 tbsp
5.    water                                             - required to make the dough    and melt jaggery.
6.   Salt                                                 - a pinch


Method: For the filling, melt jaggery in ½ a cup of water and strain it. Add coconut to the melted jaggery and cook till the liquid is dried up.

For the dough:-Add a pinch of salt to the rice flour. Add boiling water little by little to make a soft dough. (idiappam dough can also be used to make kozhukkattas)

Make small balls out of the dough and place it on your palm. Press with the other hand and make it thin. Place 1 spoon of filling in the middle and cover inwards to make a ball.

Place it in a steamer and cook for 10 mts.  Serve hot.
