Drumstick Fry

Drumstick is a popular vegetable of South India. It is called ‘muringakkai’.  Almost all homes in South India have this tree due to medicinal values. Even the drum stick leaves and flowers are used for cooking.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                                             - South India
Serves                                              - 2 people.

Ingredients:
1.   Drumsticks                         - 5 nos
2.   Onion                                  - 1 large
3.   Dry red chilli                       - 1-2 nos
4.   Turmeric Powder               - ½ tsp
5.   Kashmiri chilli powder       - ½ tsp
6.   Salt                                     - to taste
7.   Coconut oil                        - 3tsp
8.   Curry leaves                      -6-7 nos.

Method:  Cut drumsticks into 2 inch long pieces. Then cut it again from the middle into equal portions.

Grind onion and dry red chilli together and keep aside.

Pour oil in a pan and put the ground onion and red chilli paste. Let it cook for 2 mts.

Add turmeric, curry leaves and salt and stir.

Add drumsticks and mix everything well.

Add sufficient water and cover the lid. Let it cook for 20mts.

Delicious drumstick fry is ready to be served.
