Aloo Bonda( South Indian Style)




Aloo Bonda( South Indian style)
           
 Aloo Bonda is a tea-time snack served in South India. It is a carbohydrate rich deep fried food which is also called batata vada in Mumbai.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                                             - South and North
Serves                                              - 4-5 people

Ingredients:
1.   Potato(aloo)               - 4 large
2.   Green chillies             - 2 nos
3.   Mustard seeds          - ½ tsp
4.   Curry leaves              - 6 nos
5.   Ginger                        - 1 inch long piece
6.   Oil                               - for frying and for tadka.
7.   Besan(gram flour)     - 2 cups
8.   Ginger-garlic paste   - 1 tsp
9.   Turmeric powder       - 1 tsp
10.           Red chilli powdr  - ½ tsp
11.           Salt                      - to taste.
12.           Hing                     - a pinch

Method:  Boil and mash potatoes.

Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and ginger and pour over the potato.

Mix well. Add salt to the potato. Allow the mixture to cool.

Make a batter of besan, ginger-garlic paste , turmeric, red chilli powder and salt.

Make small balls of the potato mixture, dip in besan batter and deep fry
