Idiappam


Idiappam
It is a very famous breakfast item prepared in Kerala. It is also called rice noodles. It is made with the help of idiappam press mould and then steamed in a steamer.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                                   - South Indian
Serves                                    - 4 people

Ingredients:
1.   Rice flour or Idiappam powder(ready m        - ½ kg
2.   Boiling water                                                    - 4 cups
3.   Salt                                                                    - to taste
4.   Oil                                                                      - for greasing the press

Method: Put  flour in a large vessel.

Add  salt and  boiling water to it to make a soft dough. Add water little by little depending upon the requirement.

Grease the idiappam press mould and transfer a portion of the dough to it. Idli maker can be used to make idiappam also. Idli maker can be placed inside the steamer.

 Grease the idli maker also. Press the dough in circular motion.

 Close the lid of the steamer. Steam the idiappam for 10 mts.

Delicious idiappam is now ready to be served with coconut chutney, sambhar,  kadala curry or swathy.
