Suttu



This breakfast item may not be familiar to most people even though it is prepared in some parts of Kerala. It is an easy item with very little ingredients.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                                                 - South Indian
Serves                                                  - 3-4 people.
Ingredients          
  1. Raw rice                                     - 2 cups
  2. Coconut( a bit tender)                - ¾ th coconut
  3. Salt                                            - to taste

Method: Soak the rice for 5-6 hrs. Grind it along with required water and tender coconut. The consistency is the same as that of dosa or paalappam.
Keep for fermentation overnight
Add salt at the time of making.
Heat an appachatti pan (An Appachatti Pan is a stove-top frying pan that's completely rounded at the sides, so that it's like a shallow bowl. It has two short handles, one on both sides and a lid to cover)
Pour a spoon of oil. Wipe off with a tissue.
Pour a ladle of batter to the centre of the pan and close the lid. Prepare on medium heat. Wait for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat when the batter is completely cooked.
Serve hot with sambol or stew or chicken curry.
