The name itself suggests that the biriyani is quite
simple and easy. Biriyanis are prepared at homes mostly on Sundays. So, why not
try this one too.

- Prawns - 250
gms
- Basmati Rice -
2 cups
- Onion - 1
large
- Tomato - 1
large
- Ginger-garlic paste -
1 tsp
- Turmeric powder -
¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder -
½ tsp
- Green chillies -
2 nos
- Coriander powder -
1 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
- Pepper powder -
¼ tsp
- Mint leaves -
10 nos
- Coriander leaves -
few sprigs
- Salt -
to taste
- Ghee -
2 tsp
- Oil -
2 tsp.
- Whole garam masala(optional).
Method: Cook
basmati rice with salt, a tsp of oil and some whole garam masala.
Heat a tsp of oil
and a tsp of ghee together and fry ginger-garlic paste in it.
When it turns
golden brown, add sliced onions and fry.
Add sliced tomatoes
and stir fry till it becomes soft.
Add slit green
chillies.
Add all the powders
except garam masala powder and fry till done.
Add the cleaned
prawns and salt and cover with a lid.
Wait for 5 minutes.
Prawns does not need much time to cook. If overcooked it will turn hard. Once
it is ready add some coriander leaves and garam masala powder.
Now, layer the
prawns and rice. In between you can add ghee, mint leaves and coriander leaves.
Cover with a lid for 5 minutes allowing the aroma of the cooked prawns to enter
the rice.
Mix carefully.
Garnish with coriander leaves and fried onions and serve hot.
