Palak Paneer




Palak Paneer is a very famous north Indian dish. This dish combines the goodness of nutrient rich fresh green spinach with the calcium rich cottage cheese.

Basic info about the recipe
Cuisine                                            - North Indian
Serves                                             - 2-3 people.

Ingredients:
1.   Palak                           - 3 cups
2.   Paneer                        - 100 gms
3.   Onion                          - 1 large
4.   Tomato                       - 1 medium
5.   Ginger-garlic paste    - 1 tsp
6.   Turmeric powder        - ½ tsp
7.   Red chilli powder       - 1 tsp
8.   Coriander powder     - 1 tsp
9.   Garam masala           - ½ tsp
10.           Cumin powder     - 1 tsp
11.           Fresh cream        - 2 tsp
12.           Oil                         - 2 tsp

Method: Blanch palak and keep aside.  Grind it to a fine paste when it cools.

Cut paneer into cubes.

Chop  onions and tomatoes.

Heat oil in a pan and add ginger-garlic paste. Stir to avoid the paste being sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Add onion and tomato and fry till golden brown.
Add turmeric, chilli , coriander and cumin powders and sauté.

Add palak and bring to a boil. Add paneer pieces and cook well.

Add fresh cream and garam masala and serve hot.

Note: Blanching is boiling vegetables for 3-4 mts, then dipping in ice water to maintain the colour and flavor of the vegetable.
